Diversity is not limited to the obvious characteristics of gender and race.  Many different traits characterize an individual.  The combination of these elements makes each person unique.  As employees get to know each other within an organization, they notice what makes each person unique and can learn to appreciate their strengths.

One of the most broad based challenges currently facing organizations is adapting to people who are different from each other in the same workplace. 

Part I - Each participant takes a self assessment and looks at their preferred behavior style.

It is a powerful approach in demonstrating how perceptions may not be reality. We discuss the results and talk about the fact that diversity includes preferred behavior styles as well as gender, race, physical ability, sensitivity, ability to empathize, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, religion, family values, income, education, geographic location, personal habits, parental status, marital status, work classification, management status, seniority, union affiliation and more.

Part II - Each participant does a self assessment of their view on diversity. We talk about what the assessment means to each individual, where our views come from - and how to create a culture of inclusion.
